“The Woensel Gate” Design: Ruud-Jan Kokke. Construction in metal, enamel, LED-light and gold leaf. 2010
The artwork is an increasingly thin line that fills the space. A line that is consistent with the clean geometry of the façade and that is in contrast with the longue-shaped public garden. A line that is searching for the contour of a tree. The thick brown stem slowly rejuvenates and branches, and gets the color of leaves, blossom and fruit in some places. The three-dimensionality of the continuous line provides a different image from every angle. LED-lights are placed in the tubes and color planes as eyes that light in the dark. The line represents a road, a path with corners, ups, downs and a hopeful golden treetop.
